Biography

 Artist


Anthony Chapin is a multidisciplinary artist living in Minneapolis. His work spans sculpture, design, puppetry, performance, and photography. Total sensory experiences, organic forms, and the intersection of the natural and manufactured world inspire his work. He creates opportunities for meaningful experiences, interactions, and exchanges through participatory installations.

Chapin’s recent collaboration with Erin Lavelle, Nighttime Post, premiered at Northern Spark 2014 and was subsequently presented throughout Minneapolis. He also collaborated with Lavelle on a pyre sculpture adorned and set afire in an interactive funerary ritual.

Additional collaborative partners include Northern Lights.MN, Bedlam Theatre, and Barebones Productions. For the past three years Chapin has worked with Barebones Productions creating, performing and puppeteering in the annual BareBones Halloween Outdoor Puppet Extravaganza. Born in Minneapolis, Chapin has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Minnesota, and continues his artistic education through studio art courses at Minneapolis Community Technical College.
